Physical Education / Sports & Recess Enrichment

Numerous nationwide and international studies are showing that students who are physically fit are not only healthier, but do better in school, have fewer disciplinary problems, and have a better attendance rate.

In addition to regular outdoor activity and physical education in our teachers' weekly plans, the Foundation also funds a dedicated and qualified coach through a school partnership with the Dan McKinney YMCA. Coach Sergio Cabrera provides physical fitness sports and games activities that are designed to help students meet the state standards for fitness and prepare students participating in the annual Kiwanis Junior Olympics.

The Foundation also provides funding for specialized physical fitness opportunities at the Dan McKinney YMCA - swimming and gymnastics depending on grade-levels.

The Foundation also funds PE supplies to ensure they are good quality and supplement engaging PE enrichment.
