Aug. 26, 2021 - Dear Torrey Pines Families,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! I am looking forward to a bright and robust school year together.

Torrey Pines Elementary School holds a special place in the hearts of teachers, staff members, students and their families. Our curriculum is rigorous, and each child is challenged at his or her individual level to ensure measurable academic growth. At the same time, the teachers at Torrey Pines understand the importance of creating a safe and welcoming classroom environment and work diligently to create and maintain an inclusive atmosphere in their classrooms. Our counseling staff supports the social emotional growth and self-regulation skills we know are so important for children to acquire.

We are also fortunate at Torrey Pines to work and learn alongside families from all over the world, and we take pride in the fact that students speak over thirty different languages at our school. Classroom discussions are rich as children share their experiences having lived much of their lives in other countries. No matter our backgrounds, parents and staff members have shared values: the importance of academic rigor; the need to make data-driven decisions; and a pursuit of teaching and learning best practices. We are united in our belief that a strong foundational education is fundamental in the shaping of children’s lives and future opportunities.

Please consider joining the TPES Foundation. It takes our entire learning community - parents, teachers, staff members and students - working together to create the outstanding experience our students deserve.

Please feel free to contact me at

    In partnership,

    Nona Richard
