Diversity Statement

Torrey Pines Elementary School (TPES) is working to implement programs that foster an equity and inclusion mindset for appreciating the differences in individuals. The Torrey Pines Elementary School Foundation (TPESF) embraces the same culture of respect for diversity, equity, and inclusion for all.

Individual differences can be based upon age, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and socioeconomic status. Our school community values a diverse learning environment and workforce where students, teachers, and staff fully appreciate the value of and are proactive in being inclusive of people from all backgrounds.

In 2019-2020 and in 2020-2021, Torrey Pines Elementary School earned the No Place for HateĀ® designation. To learn more about this initiative, click here.

Under the purview of the TPES School Governance Team (SGT), the school has a Diversity Club called the 4 U Squad for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders, partners with the San Diego Unified School District’s Ally Action program, and supports No Place for HateĀ® programming. For more information, please contact the school office.

Section 5 of Article IX of the California Constitution guarantees students a “free public education.”
