    Join Principal Nona Richard and the TPES Foundation on Tuesday, Sept. 8, from 6- 6:30 PM or on Friday, Sept. 11, 9-9:30 AM. 

    Don't miss out!  Special guest appearances by Coach Sergio, art teacher Ms. Jen Syeda, music teacher Ms. Cheryl Slavik, and Center for World Music. They are excited to meet TPES families and answer questions about their programs!

    Aug. 28 - A special THANK YOU to TPES principal, teachers, and staff for this fantastic Meet Your Teacher & School Materials Distribution Day!


    A big shout-out also to our incredible team of volunteers and our VP, Michelle Woodhouse, who helped coordinate this joyful day!

    Thank you, TPES families, it was a pleasure to see you all!! We hope you enjoyed this day as much as we did!

    Aug. 25, 2020 - TPES Foundation is proudly supporting and appreciating our TPES teachers and staff on “Distribution Day” this Friday, August 28.

    We are looking for volunteers to donate/lend supplies as well as help distribute materials and direct traffic on Friday, socially distanced and masked.

    Please help us celebrate this special drive-through moment and welcome our TPES community back to school while they pick up materials and meet their teachers from their cars!

    Aug. 24, 2020 - Yesterday, we had a great time meeting new and returning TPES families at the New Families Virtual Event! We learned new things about our school community and shared our favorite TPES memories, interests, talents, and hopes for the new school year!

    Thank you to all who attended, to all who volunteered to welcome the new students and their families, and to the fantastic team who successfully organized this event, our TPESF Co-VP of Family and Community Events, Alina Mullen and Jen Fiorentino, and our New Families Ambassador, Kara Comp. 

    A special thank you also to Principal Nona Richard for joining us!

    Aug. 18, 2020 - Welcome new Torrey Pines Elementary School (TPES) families! The Torrey Pines Elementary School Foundation is excited to host a virtual event this Sunday, August 23, from 3:00 to 5:15 PM, welcoming you to our amazing community! This is a fun opportunity to meet new and current TPES families, learn more about our wonderful school, and make new friends!

    New enrolled families and current families who want to volunteer to meet new families can register here by Friday, August 21st at 6:00 PM. After you sign up, you will receive Zoom details before the event! 

    We will hold two Zoom sessions depending on your child's grade. If you have more than one student at TPES, you are welcome to attend both sessions or choose one based on grade-level. Grades 1-5 will join us from 3:00 to 4:00 PM and Grades TK/K will join us from 4:15 to 5:15 PM. 

    We will begin with an introduction by TPES Principal Nona Richard and our TPES Foundation Board. Then, we will move to Zoom breakout rooms to get to know one another better. When registering for the event, please indicate which breakout room by grade you would like to attend. 

    All children are invited and encouraged to attend! Please bring your favorite picnic snack/drink and wear your TPES t-shirts or other school apparel if possible. Let's show how much we love our school!

    We need VOLUNTEERS from our current TPES families to attend and help moderate the breakout rooms. We have fun ideas that we will share with you. When registering for the event, please indicate if you are a new family or not. We will be in touch by email with more information. Let's warmly welcome our new friends together!

    We cannot wait to meet you!

    Aug. 12, 2020 - A tremendous thank you to all the Volunteers, Chairs and Board Members of 2019-2020! We appreciate your dedication during this trying time. We now welcome new Board Members and Chairs, and look forward to working with you and our school community! 

    There are still several volunteer opportunities available for next year. These Co-VP/Chair/Co-Chair positions are important to help ensure another successful year of fundraising and to help run all the amazing programs our kids enjoy at TPES. Because of COVID-19 restrictions, we do not yet know how relevant some of these positions will be, but we will update the list as Fall approaches. For now, these are the current openings:

    • Co-VP Gala (TPESF Board position)

    • Gala Chair Positions (Photography, Silent Auction, Live Auction, Auction Student Photos, Buy-In Parties, Class Baskets, Student Art, Decor, Teacher Outings)

    Sep. 26, 2019 - Torrey Pines Elementary School is the only elementary school in the San Diego Unified School District to receive the designation as an Exemplary High Performing National Blue Ribbon School for 2019 by U. S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos. 

    Our school is one of 362 schools in the nation and one of thirty schools from California to be recognized in 2019. This award recognizes the consistent day to day instruction and work of our teachers, staff, students, and families.
