Sept. 30, 2020 - Dear Torrey Pines Families,
Thank you for the incredible birthday wishes and attention! Your thoughtfulness and generosity were touching, and the Distribution Day birthday memories will have a special place in my heart for a long time to come. Please save the date for our next Distribution Day, Oct. 30.
Over the next few weeks, the teachers and I will be meeting to discuss our plans for Phase 1 instruction. We will share information related to what this looks like at our school as soon as it is available.
We still need one more parent to serve on our School Site Council (SSC).The SSC is a group of 10 stakeholders who are responsible for monitoring student progress at Torrey Pines. The SSC uses student data to make recommendations for structural and budgetary decisions on campus. It is important to have all five parent representatives in this group so your voice can be heard. This would be one place where parents could communicate their needs during the Phase 1 plan.
In addition, we are in need of a parent who would be willing to attend the District’s English Learner Advisory Council (DELAC) once a month (via Zoom) and report back to the SSC. The next DELAC meeting is tomorrow, Thursday, Oct. 1, at 5.30 pm. If you are willing to represent TPES at this meeting, or if you would just like more information, please reach out to me here.
As always, we appreciate your support of student learning during these unique times. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
Sept. 28, 2020 - Note the New Time: Starts 15 minutes later.
Join Ms. Richard on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 - 8:30 AM for a read aloud and short chat with students at breakfast time, before the school day begins.
Tuesdays will be geared toward a TK- Grade 2 audience.
Thursdays will be oriented toward Grade 3-5 students.
Each session has a social-emotional focus.
Sept. 25, 2020 - Please help us celebrate together with a special TPES BIRTHDAY CAR PARADE during our Distribution Day!
Decorate your car with signs, balloons or whatever creatively inspires you to wish our beloved Principal a happy TPES birthday!
Also, play this Spotify Playlist from your cars that Michelle Woodhouse created for the event.
1st graders: 8:30 am OR 11am
2nd graders: 9:20 am OR 11am
This is totally voluntary since it is Distribution Day.
Also, check that it does not conflict with your classroom teacher's schedule.
Sept. 24, 2020 - This Friday, Sept. 25, at TPES Materials Distribution Day, you will receive information on our Annual Giving Campaign as well as our most recent 2019-2020 Annual Report. Click here to learn more.
Didn't you love seeing your kids working out with Coach Sergio last week, creating beautiful Art with Mrs. Syeda, and learning about music with Mrs. Slavik?
Did you know that Art, Music, PE, Technology, one full-time teacher and support staff are FULLY FUNDED BY PARENT AND COMMUNITY DONATIONS?
Your contributions also help support TPES programs that are not met by District funding. Things like extra hours with the school counselor, running club, science supplies and classroom supplies, all come from your donations.
Our Goal for the 2020 Annual Giving Campaign is $130,000!
If each family gives $1000 or $100 per month per student we would easily be able to fill the needs left from inadequate District funding! Of course, we appreciate all donations of any amount.
Please consider a donation today to help us kick off our Annual Giving Campaign with a strong start!
Don't forget to pick up your Annual Report from the Foundation tent on Friday's Distribution Day!
If you have any questions, please email Skye Ross and Thien-Thanh Genovese, TPESF Co-VPs of Fundraising. Thank you!
Sept. 24, 2020 - Dear Torrey Pines Families,
We are so excited about our upcoming Distribution Day! There is nothing like watching the connections between our students and their teachers continue to blossom, and staff members have been working hard to prepare the materials needed for instruction during the upcoming month.
Speaking of connections, I am really enjoying getting to know students who are joining me for Breakfast and Books on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
This coming Thursday, (24), students are welcome to attend at 7.45 am for a read aloud and share. Then, moving forward, beginning Tues. 29, the time for Breakfast and Books will shift to 8.00-8.30 am. This allows school staff a bigger window to meet with parents in the morning before the school day begins.
Hope to see you there!
Sept. 19, 2020 - The TPES Foundation will proudly support our wonderful teachers and staff on Distribution Day this Friday, Sept. 25.
We are looking for volunteers to donate and lend supplies, distribute materials and direct traffic, socially-distanced and masked.
Check today's e-Blast or click here to learn how to volunteer for this event. Please note the link is in a password-protected TPES families-only area. If you are not yet registered on our website, please email Alexis and Paola at firstname.lastname@example.org, and a link will be provided.
Principal Richard's birthday is also on Sept. 25!
Let’s celebrate together with a birthday car parade on Distribution Day! Decorate your car with signs, balloons or whatever creatively inspires you to wish our amazing principal a happy TPES birthday!
We look forward to another fantastic, fun and safe Distribution Day for our TPES Community! Please email Alina and Jen with any questions at email@example.com.
Sept. 17, 2020 - Dear Torrey Pines Families,
We hope you are enjoying our first week of rotations! It is so fun to see our rotation teachers teach live Zoom sessions for PE, Art, and Music!
We would also like to thank our office staff who have been working diligently to ensure parents receive responses in a timely manner. A note about parent portal information: we will be providing updated parent portal instructions and passwords for all families who have not yet logged in. More details to come!
Have a great week!
Virtual Office Hours with Ms. Richard: Friday, Sept. 18, from 9-10:00 am, for parents who want to discuss any questions or concerns. No registration is necessary. Please check this week's e-Twig for further information.
